Former Kentucky star to have jersey retired at halftime
Couch led Wildcats to their first SEC Championship Game appearance
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Former University of Kentucky football star Tim Couch will be honored during the Wildcats' game against the University of South Carolina on Saturday, September 16.
Couch's No. 10 jersey will be retired at halftime of the game, which will be televised on ESPN. Couch, a native of Ashland, Kentucky, was a Parade All-American and Kentucky Mr. Football at Apollo High School.
He signed with Kentucky in 1996 and quickly became one of the most prolific passers in school history. In three seasons with the Wildcats, Couch passed for 8,462 yards and 74 touchdowns.
He led Kentucky to its first SEC Championship Game appearance in 1998. Couch was a consensus All-American that season and finished third in the Heisman Trophy voting.
He was selected first overall by the Cleveland Browns in the 1999 NFL Draft. Couch played eight seasons in the NFL with the Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars.
Couch was inducted into the UK Athletics Hall of Fame in 2004. He is currently an analyst for the SEC Network.
