Early Career and AFC Ajax
Wout Weghorst began his professional career in 2012 with Emmen in the Netherlands. He joined FC Zwolle in 2014, where he made a name for himself as a prolific goalscorer. His performances earned him a move to German club VfL Wolfsburg in 2018. After a successful spell in Germany, Weghorst transferred to AFC Ajax in 2020.
Burnley F.C. and Burnley's Battle Against Relegation
In January 2022, Weghorst joined Premier League club Burnley F.C. on loan from AFC Ajax. Burnley was struggling against relegation at the time, and Weghorst's goalscoring prowess was seen as a potential lifeline. He scored two goals in his first three Premier League games, but his efforts were not enough to prevent Burnley from being relegated to the Championship.
Netherlands National Team
Weghorst made his debut for the Netherlands national team in 2018. He has since scored eight goals in 19 appearances for his country. He was a member of the Dutch squad that reached the semi-finals of the 2019 UEFA Nations League.

Weghorst is a tall and physical striker, known for his aerial ability and clinical finishing. He is also a good passer and can hold up the ball well. In the 2018/2019 season with VfL Wolfsburg, Weghorst scored 17 goals and provided 10 assists in all competitions.
