16 Year Old Scored A Brace In Debut

Lily Yohannes impresses at Ajax

16-year-old scored a brace in debut

'My parents and brother are very proud'

Lily Yohannes is a name that is quickly becoming familiar to fans of women's soccer. The 16-year-old midfielder has impressed since joining Ajax in April, and on Sunday she made a stunning international debut for the United States, scoring twice in a 5-0 win over Uzbekistan.

Born in Springfield, Virginia, Yohannes grew up in a soccer-loving family. Her father played the game, and her brothers are also talented players. But Yohannes knows that it is rare for a player to break into the professional ranks at such a young age.

"It is a dream come true to play for Ajax and the United States," Yohannes said.

"I have worked hard to get to this point, and I am grateful for the opportunity to play at such a high level.

"My parents and brother are very proud of me, and they have been very supportive throughout my career.

"I know that I have a lot of potential, and I am excited to see what the future holds."
